Dr Yuen undertook the combined medicine and surgery degree at the University of New South Wales. His internship, resident medical officer and basic surgical training was at Royal North Shore Hospital.
Dr Yuen completed advanced training in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Australian Orthopaedic Association, which was completed in 2011. Dr Yuen obtained his fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2012.
Following this Dr Yuen completed a prestigious fellowship in Hand Surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital with Professor Michael Tonkin.
Wishing to further his expertise in Hand Microsurgery Dr Yuen completed a Microsurgical Course and Observership with Dr Sabapathy at the Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore, India. This was followed by further subspecialty training in Hand Trauma and Microsurgery at both the National University Hospital, Singapore and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London. Dr Yuen had the opportunity to further his arthroscopy skills by training at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong under Dr PC Ho who is one of the world leaders in wrist arthroscopic surgery.
Dr Yuen specialises in Hand Surgery and manages conditions of the hand and wrist. He is able to offer his patients the latest surgical and microsurgical treatments of an international standard.
Dr Yuen has completed research on tendon repairs and given presentations at national and local hand surgery conferences. He was awarded the Allan Frederick Dwyer Prize for the presentation of the best paper at the Australian Orthopaedic Registrars Conference and was the winner of the Best Scientific Presentation at the Combined New South Wales and Queensland Hand Surgery Association Meeting in 2010.
Dr Yuen serves the needs of Sydney communities by taking part in Hand Emergency and Trauma on call rosters at The Sydney Adventist Hospital, Liverpool/Fairfield Hospitals as a Hand Surgery Consultant VMO. Dr Yuen also has private consulting rooms at Macquarie University Hospital and in Liverpool at Sydney South West Orthopaedics. He is also a Clinical Lecturer at Macquarie University.
Dr Yuen is happily married and enjoys being a father to his two children. He enjoys keeping fit with body weight calisthenics training and snowboarding in the winter.
